Sunburn's Misc Links

Yes, everyone has a random list of links and I'm no exception.

Entertainment

Completely Random

  • Probably the single best representation of the Web, the terribly aptly named Useless WWW Pages.
  • The amazing $95,000 junk mail check. Yes, it's a long story, but it's well worth reading.
  • For any of you fellow University of Michigan alums out there, be sure to take a peek at the Cottage Inn homepage. Wow, makes me hungry just thinking about it.
  • God has a Web page! (In Germany, though, which somehow seems odd.)
  • Check out the Cool Word of the Day.

Friends

I have friends! No, really. Some of them even have home pages, like: If I forgot you, just let me know...

Programming

Yes, I write code. But it's not my primary job, so what I care about are tools that let me get work done with a minimum of battling.

Lisp

I think Paul Graham said it best: "The spirit of Lisp hacking can be expressed in two sentences. Programming should be fun. Programs should be beautiful." (from ANSI Common Lisp, page x.) Lisp is The Right Thing. In that spirit, then, some Lisp-related links:

Other

Somewhat less centrally, there's:
  • Python. Python is another cross-platform, high-level language with a good object model. (That's as in Monty Python, by the way, not the snake.)
  • And if you code, you wouldn't want to miss the Hacker's Jargon Dictionary.
  • Inside Macintosh, the programming resource for the rest of us.

I'd also like to point out that when the word "hacking" appears above, it is meant in the original meaing of that word: hacking is writing code. It is not illegally breaking into computer systems, which is termed "cracking." Please don't send me email asking for help in breaking into somebody else's computer system--I won't help you. In fact, I'll probably just report you to your ISP.

Politics

Well, I don't have much more to add, but I know there is a lot more stuff out there that I should have links to, but none of them leap to mind at the moment. As usual, if you have suggestions or comments, I'd love to hear 'em. Just drop me a line by clicking on my email address below.
